Door Latches for modern applications are almost always mortice door latches, i.e they are fitted into the door and operated by a door lever or door knob. Commonly tubular latches are fitted as they only require a 1 inch hole to be drilled to fit the body of the latch into the door. Flat latches are also available and tend to be for more high cycle usage applications.
